Battle of Hollis Hill

from Caught The Cull by Hollis & The Widows

/

lyrics

We were waiting in the forest fire
They gave the order for to open fire and run
On the edge of the grassy plane
You could see for miles everything

Not a man or beast in sight
I rubbed my eyes in the morning light
As my brothers went ahead
I ducked behind a willow bend

Must've been half a mile away
When I heard someone take a drink and say
"Didn't think that they'd really go
Pretty sure that they all already know

"That the general's gone mad
And the whole war is a sham
I won't make a rebel yell
Just going home before I'm felled"

He went on and I held my place
You could see every person and their state
Everyone was looking tired
The general kept screaming for to fire

And advance at greater speed
As they all forged on ahead
Then I heard a rebel yell
Someone fired on the general

Who completely lost his mind
Aimed and fired on the forward line
And as ten aimed back at him
It was a captain who shot him

Threw some dirt upon my face
And I shot my foot to prove my place
